The processing of images - for use in presentations, video production, as screensavers or desktop backgrounds, or for artistic effects - has prompted the development of many simple programs that perform specific design tasks for you outside of your main design creation programs, and TileMage is one of them. The function of this application, as you may have guessed from its name, is to split your images into rows and columns, or tiles, so that you can use the parts of the image you want to in your artistic creations, and it does exactly what it says on the box.
TileMage has a Windows-style graphical user interface that is very easy to use and it takes up only a small part of your system resources. This handy tool supports most common image file formats, like .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .bmp, .png, .tif, .tiff, .wmf and .emf, and can open and save them all. A new feature included in the program allows you to process multiple images using the application's Batch Mode, in a single run. Another good feature allows you to generate an HTML page with your new tiles, and your file naming patterns are fully customizable. If your column and row numbers are not compatible with the loaded source image, you can use the application’s AutoMatch feature in order to hide them. All in all, it's a handy tool for creating tiles and slices of your images.
